Facebook Slideshow. A new product known as ‘Facebook Slideshow’ is here and there is good reason for celebration. Gone are the days where you weren’t able to create your own videos for Facebook or Instagram. Now with Facebook Slideshow, you can, and they are quite elegant. What: Slideshow allows you to create your own auto-play Video by simply uploading 3-7 photos. Yes, you heard that correctly. You just upload your desired photos or you can choose from Facebook’s stock image gallery (Shutterstock). You may choose the order of the pictures, the time duration for each slide, and soon you will be able to add in background music from a stock music gallery. As mentioned, this type of post will Auto-Play and captions can be added just the same way you would with a video. Why: Slideshow is giving smaller brands and agencies the chance to finally compete in the video space on Facebook. Before Slideshow, only the brands/agencies with the time and the big bucks were able to produce and spit out endless amounts of video content onto your News Feed. With Slideshow, any size budget will allow for your content creators to create a beautiful brand story by quickly and simply uploading photos. Not only does Slideshow allow more players to enter the “game,” but the actual file size of each of these Slideshow videos is 5x lighter than your typical .mp4 video file, thus allowing Facebook users who have lesser internet connection (all over the world) to easily be able to load and enjoy the Slideshow. How: You can create your Slideshow masterpiece by going to your page and clicking “Photo/Video” then clicking “Slideshow” OR you can create your Slideshow Ad in Ads Manager. Extra: Slideshow will be directly compatible with your Instagram account, which will be extremely nice to have as it will auto-play, too. Talk about cross-device & cross-platform domination. Facebook notes that all of the Slideshow features will finish rolling out in July. This includes Facebook’s stock image gallery, stock music gallery, and others! Whether we are sharing uplifting moments like graduations, birthdays, or something simple and humorous like a meme, photos are the backbone to our online existence. It’s a language we can all connect over and speak. Celebs, news outlets, and your friends are able to share their perspective and outlook via their feed with just a few images. Recently, FB introduced what is called 360 photos. 360 photos allow users to experience a photo in a much grander way, as if you were actually there experiencing the moment.

Once where panoramic photos could be rather stagnant and less captivating due to a small horizontal viewing window, 360 photos actually lets the user feel apart of the moment, as if they were actually there. As users have technologically progressed, 360 photos seems like natural progression. The same goes for 360 video. While normal photos can now seem rather dull, 360 allows users to get right in the action.

Creating a 360 photo is easy and fun 😉 Right from an iOS or android device (and a number of other devices), users can take a panoramic photo and upload it straight to FB just like you would with any other photo. 360 photos will have a small compass icon in the corner signifying that you can explore the photo further. FB will then convert it to a fully immersive 360 photo. Have fun and keep it interesting!

According to Google, “50% of consumers who conducted a local search on their smartphone visited a store within a day, and 34% who searched on computer/tablet did the same.” Small businesses can begin to capitalize on these motivated users, simply by setting up their local page. The Google My Business page allows you to share pertinent information about your business, including your address, operating hours, photos of your business, and more. In addition, local search continues to evolve, it’s opening the door for integrations with other CRMs and marketing tools, such as DemandForce and Intuit, allowing customers to take action, such as booking an appointment, directly from search results. Get Into Your Customer Inbox With 61% of online adults using email on a daily basis, email marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach consumers and is among the most powerful marketing tools available. In fact, it’s estimated that email marketing has a 3800% ROI. Email marketing is valuable because it allows small businesses to build a relationship with their customers, even when face-to-face communication isn’t possible. It’s also a great way to keep current and prospective customers up to date on the latest products and services that you offer. This all creates a familiarity which can mean more for your bottom line. In fact, 89% of marketers say that email is their primary channel for lead generation. If you’re not using email marketing in your arsenal, you could be missing out on an abundance of leads and sales. Getting started with email marketing doesn’t have to be expensive for small businesses, either. Tools like MailChimp offer free plans for marketers with 3,000 subscribers or less, and their monthly plans for those with larger marketing lists are affordable, as well. With pre-stocked templates and a user-friendly interface, MailChimp makes it easy to put together a mailer. Not sure what to include in your emails? The key is to keep it simple. Sharing a once-per-month update on your latest product additions, ongoing sales, or other business news can help you make sure that your business stays fresh in your consumer’s mind. You can also use email as a channel to survey customers on their wants and needs, or incentivize them to leave reviews for your business. Get Social It is estimated that more than 76% of all Internet users are on social media, with 1.4 billion users on Facebook alone each month. And people aren’t just passively signing on, either. In fact, the average person spends 1 hour and 40 minutes per day on social media. It’s important for small businesses to have a presence on the top social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and (depending on the business type) Pinterest. Making sure that you have profiles on each of these channels allows you to be in control of your brand conversation, and make sure that your customers can find you – regardless of their platform of choice. For some small business owners, social media can seem like a time-consuming task. And while having a dedicated social media person can go a long way toward improving engagement and reach on social media, it doesn’t mean businesses who don’t have that in their budget should completely ignore the medium. There are a variety of tools, including Social Oomph, HootSuite and PostPlanner, which allow for post automation, so you can schedule out posts in advance and trigger engagement with users rather than spend hours a day monitoring each channel. Essentially, “let users in” so that they can relate to your brand and feel compelled to interact.
