How to Write SEO Articles

October 18, 2010

Writing SEO articles seems like a daunting task, however with a little direction, you will find yourself turning them out in no time flat.  Starting from the beginning, why would you want to write a SEO article in the first place?  It’s probably not because you are bored and looking for something better to do.

Why Write an SEO Article?

Most SEO articles are written not only to offer information to the consumer, but they also have the ability to provide strong linking power, which will help improve your traffic.

How to Optimize for the Search Engines

Upon deciding what you are going to write about, you can then begin to consider how to incorporate SEO.  At first, you may find that it can be a little tricky to find a balance between keyword utilization and article clarity.

A common mistake is to over-use your keywords, repeating the same phrases over and over again.  Keyword stuffing is the process in which an article writer inserts too many keywords into an article making it sound unnatural and uneven. This, along with providing information that is uninformative, is quite disadvantageous and may end up hurting you.

A good rule of thumb is to use a 2-4% keyword ratio.  This means that a 400-word article should use your keyword between 8-16 times.  You may want to err on the side of caution and use closer to 8.

Once you have completed your articles, you may want to have someone read them over and consider the following questions:

A) Does your article make sense?

B) Is your article informational and beneficial presenting your readers with fresh information?

C) Is your reader feeling attacked by the usage of your keywords? Does the article read naturally or does your article appear to be choppy and unreadable?

D) Does your article present correct, pertinent information that can be verified?  The last thing you would want is to present your reader with incorrect info.

E) Does your article contain a powerful link to your website that uses your keyword as anchor text?  Without this, your article cannot perform up to it’s capability.

Taking all of this into consideration, you should be well on your way to producing high-quality, enlightening information that will attract a following of loyal readers.  Once this is established, your clicks should go mile-high!
