You’ve Got Mail! (from Google Webmaster Tools)
April 10, 2013
Look familiar? When you log into your Google Webmaster Tools account, there may be messages waiting for you with this ominous-looking warning sign.
A typical notification can be about a GoogleBot not being able to access your site, increased server errors or outages. Do not ignore these! If you have already solved the problem or you know it is in the process of being fixed, they may not pose a problem. However, if you are consistently receiving these messages your website may need immediate attention.
As Google says themselves, Google Webmaster Tools “provides you with detailed reports about your pages’ visibility on Google.” In other words, Google Webmaster Tools reports on how accessible your site is by Google. If Google cannot access your website properly, then you run the risk of having your website devalued by Google and you can see your rankings drop or worse case scenario, drop completely from Google’s index.
In addition to offering these helpful alerts, Google Webmaster Tools offers invaluable reporting on other areas of improvement on your website. I strongly recommended that you get your website verified in Google Webmaster Tools if you have not done so already.
A lot of these problems are easily fixed. Your SEO professional at SEOhaus can help resolve these issues and get your site back on track.
